Born and raised in Athens, Greece, paparouna [pavlos stavropoulos] currently resides in occupied Arapahoe and Cheyenne territory in so-called Colorado, USA, is a social and environmental justice educator, works in website management, writes queer speculative prose, translates mostly queer Greek literature into English, and daydreams about life as a marine mammal. An MFA Candidate in Fiction and Translation at Antioch—Los Angeles, paparouna was accepted into the 2018 Princeton Hellenic Translation Workshop and the 2018-2020 Lighthouse Book Project, has been a guest fiction editor for beestung magazine, was the web editor for The Thought Erotic (currently on hiatus), and is the Lead Translation Editor (previously the Managing Editor for Content and Production) for Lunch Ticket. They have presented at numerous conferences and community events and have taught a variety of workshops in community and academic settings (CV available upon request). Their writing has been published in Progenitor, Asymptote, Exchanges, New Poetry in Translation (now World Poetry Review), Denver Quarterly, Timber, The Thought Erotic, and Lunch Ticket. They have an essay on queer translation forthcoming in a Greek anthology of queer writing.
